Version History:

Version 1.1: Adds support for metadata and menu browsing.

Version 1.2: Adds discrete streaming commands and support for AirPlay.

Version 1.3: Fixes Zone 4 command problems and adds device discovery.

Version 1.31: Adds additional inputs to Zone 4/HD Zone.

Version 1.32: Allows turning off the 'heartbeat' on units that won't turn off when being polled, and allows additional flexibility through an addition raw command capability.

Pioneer A/V Receivers

This driver was designed and tested with Pioneers FY13AVR Specification dated July 2012. It was tested on VSX-53/52 Elite Receivers and the VSX-1021. Version 1.2 and 1.3 were tested with an SC-65

NOTE: The VSX-1021 can only control the media inputs (HMG, iPod etc.) when they are selected in the Main Zone, you can listen to them in any zone but the commands only work when the sources are selected in the Main Zone

Revision History

1.0: The initial release of the driver

1.1: Added support for VSX Series receivers, including extensive media controls
1.11 fixed hidden choices in iPod menu, added freq system event, added T2-C+ to sample file.
1.12 added HDMI commands and variables
1.13 updated Listening modes

1.2 Adds support for Airplay as well as the discrete streaming sources

1.3 Adds device discovery (see below). It also fixes problems with commands for Zone 4.
1.31 Adds functions to switch to additional HDMI inputs in Zone 4, and system variables for those inputs

1.32 Adds the ability to disable the heartbeat. This is to be used for instances where the receiver responds to any RS232 input and wakes up the unit. **Caution** Disabling the heartbeat will not allow for the feedback variables to be initialized on processor power up. You will need to adjust volume for the feedback to be set the first time.

Adds Send Raw String

Source Inputs

The source input selections are slightly different in different models so make sure to only use inputs available on your receiver. Support for other/future models of the receiver is aided by the alternate input commands. If an input uses a number different than a current receiver it can be added using that command. The receiver fills the variables with metadata when it starts playing so the 'Transport List' variable can be used to hide the menus when they've been replaced with metadata. The sample file takes this approach.

1.2 Added discrete commands for the sources that were formerly grouped under the HMG Input. The sources still share the same commands and metadata, including menus. A second variable has been added to show the network source. The receiver does not consider AirPlay a source in the same sense as HDMI2 and Tuner. It considers it a Network Source which is listed under the HMG section. If you're listening to Pandora and start an Airplay source the network source will change to AirPlay but the source will continue to say Pandora, and any command sent from the HMG page will cancel the AirPlay session and switch you back to Pandora. Source changes and Network source changes each have a driver event.

Media Menu System

The media menus for iPod, HMG and Sirius radio are made up of 8 Menu Line text variables, a variable to highlight them and commands to directly select them. The media menus use the return key to back up a level. The sample file gives examples

Device Discovery

Starting with version 1.3 the driver can find a receiver given the 'Friendly Name' as assigned in the setup menu, you do not need to know it's IP address. It will track any changes in the IP address so you can leave the receiver on DHCP. To enable this, select UPnP as the selection type and enter the appropriate Friendly Name. It can be found in the setup menu under System Setup:Network Setup:Friendly Name
