For a fashionable 1,614-square-foot apartment in Naples, Italy, integrator ClicHome selected RTI’s cutting-edge home automation solutions to deliver all-inclusive control capabilities via one simple interface. Controlling LED lighting, HVAC systems, a home cinema room, and more, the customized interfaces create an intuitive design-conscious solution that powers a long list of systems and devices without obstructing the modernistic feel of the apartment.
When it comes to fitting today’s avant-garde residential design projects with cutting-edge home automation systems, the combination of minimalist design, multi-room control, and seamless user operation become key factors for success. And for a 1,614-square-foot apartment in Naples, Italy, these forward-thinking features become absolutely essential. Retrofitted to be at the forefront of Italian design, the ultramodern flat allows users to control in-house systems such as lighting, blinds, HVAC systems, as well as a long list of A/V entertainment components at the touch of a button. Centered on RTI’s powerful control portfolio, the leading-edge installation makes total home control incredibly simple to program, easy to blend in with the chic environment, and seamless to operate.
“The client’s apartment was a prestigious location that was looking to implement a top-notch home automation and entertainment system that married unmatched performance with elegant design,” said Luca Ricci, owner of ClicHome. “Installed across every room of the house, it was imperative that the multi-component system met the residence’s modernistic style, meaning that any equipment we selected had to be easy to conceal or conform to the highest standards of design when left in plain sight. To meet these precise requirements, we turned to RTI’s innovative line of products — allowing us to efficiently program an entire system while giving the homeowner access to any lighting, security, or entertainment component from a stylish personal touchscreen or handheld remote.”
Fully retrofitted to be at the cutting-edge of design and technological innovation, the apartment created by architect Aurelio Mastroberti blends a sleek interior with contemporary amenities such as advanced LED RGB lighting fixtures, automated HVAC system, security capabilities, automatic blinds, and a fully-loaded home entertainment system. To enable centralized control across the home’s electronic systems, integrator ClicHome selected RTI’s XP-6 control processor. Designed to bring power and processing speed to wide-ranging residential and commercial installations, the robust processor removes complexity from multi-system setups through options such as RS-232, relay, IP, and routable IR.
To satisfy the home’s need for consolidated control that was both stylish and incredibly intuitive, RTI’s RTiPanel app for iPad® allows the user to activate, manage, and control home systems such as lighting, home cinema components, audio, or security cameras directly from the device’s touchscreen. When not in use, the iPad fits seamlessly into a docking station to maintain the apartment’s minimalist design while RTiPanel’s custom-built screen menus rapidly guide the user to the different features of the home’s entertainment and control systems. In addition to the RTiPanel, the control system features a T2x remote, which allows handheld control of the dwelling’s home cinema room and lighting fixtures — including the simple touch-button operation of a ceiling screen, projector lift, audio system, and more. Featuring hard button control, dual RF transmission capabilities, and wireless integrated Ethernet, the remote’s 2.8-inch touchscreen allows integrators to customize the sleek T2x for full control of any systems or components within multi-use environments.
“RTI’s control solutions allowed us to easily setup and customize the homeowner’s different interfaces, ensuring that the system remained powerful, easy to program, and incredibly simple to use,” added Ricci. “Thanks to the company’s easy-to-use programming software and large availability of two-way drivers for third-party systems, we were able to seamlessly integrate a variety of solutions in order to meet the specific requirements of our customer..”
By leveraging RTI’s extensive library of pre-written and tested two-way drivers, the control system is able to take command of products such as Apple TV®, Konnex home automation, a Sonos® audio system, Gefen ToolBox®, Kaleidescape® movie server, Avielo™ projector, and many more — creating a leading-edge system that matches the home’s remarkable interior design. Combined with RTI’s award-winning Integration Designer® programming software, integrators can easily create and completely customize user interfaces without the need for any complex coding — resulting in extremely intuitive system designs, even in demanding multi-room, multi-system settings.
“I was looking for a home control and entertainment system that would match the look-and-feel of my apartment,” said the homeowner. “Fully renovated to be at cusp of today’s design trends, the system selected needed be easy to use without obstructing the feeling of the flat. I’m happy to say that what was delivered completely exceeded my expectations. Using my iPad, I’m able to automatically set up my home cinema to create a movie-watching atmosphere, control my security system, or set the temperature to different comfort levels. It’s so easy, there was practically nothing to learn and everything works completely behind the scenes. It has also impressed my friends and family, so we’ve ordered the exact same system for my father’s house.”
