Description:

This driver controls NEC displays, through RS-232 and IP. It supports up to 16 displays chained together via the display"s RS232 In/Out ports.

NEC P402 Display

Provides control and feedback for NEC Displays via RS-232 or Ethernet. An NEC P402 display was used during the development of this driver. Support is provided for up to 16 displays linked together via the RS232 In/Out ports on the displays.

Config Settings

TCP Connection

The Ethernet connection on the first NEC display should be connected to the Network.

The TCP Address should match the address of the first NEC display. Port 7142 is used for driver communication to the display.

RS-232 Serial Port Settings

The RS-232 connection on the display should be connected with a null modem to the processor.

The display defaults to a baud rate of 9600.

Driver Settings

First Display ID - Enter the ID of the first display in the RS232 In/Out chain. Display IDs 1-16 are supported.

Last Display ID - Enter the ID of the last display in the RS232 In/Out chain. Display IDs 1-16 are supported.

Driver Notes

- Up to 16 displays can be controlled using the NEC RS232 In/Out ports on the displays. Make sure the display IDs used are in sequential order. When using less than 16 displays in the RS232 In/Out chain, it is recommended that the first and last display ID configurations are set appropriately to reduce the initialization time and to prevent the Connection State variables from resetting due to the lack of responses from missing displays.

- When using TCP/IP for control, only the first display need be connected to the network. The RS232 output of the first display then starts the RS232 In/Out chain. All other displays in the chain use the RS232 In/Out ports for connectivity and do not need TCP/IP connectivity.

- Group control commands are provided for groups A-J, but group feedback is not provided from the displays. If feedback is required when controlling groups, it is recommended to pick a display ID that is included in the specific group.
